Miami is now seeing the highest growth nationwide in migration of software and IT workers, according to a new analysis of LinkedIn data published by Axios.
Between March 2020 and February 2021, the Miami-Fort Lauderdale Metro saw a 15.1% increase in tech workers based here compared to the year before. The data is based on the location listed on the profiles of LinkedIn users.
By comparison, San Francisco and New York were the biggest losers, dropping 34.8% and 18.2% respectively over the same period.
Other big losers included Seattle, Boston, Washington D.C., and Austin.
According to Axios, Miami is a place where young engineers and recent college graduates want to live, and many see the area as the best option to jumpstart their careers.
Migration changes accelerated by the pandemic that benefit places like Miami are likely to be permanent, AOL founder Steve Case told the website.
