Surgery games are now considered teaching aids

Surgery games and other online resources are now considered teaching aids for prospective surgeons.  The present breed of surgeons can look back and view Nintendo and PlayStation games as a contributor to their successful laparoscopic surgery.  It has been found that surgeons who played video games at least three hours a week performed better and faster laparoscopic surgery and made fewer mistakes than their counterparts who spent all their days reading and studying.

Modern surgery requires the hand-eye coordination needed in playing video games.  Laparoscopic surgery is compared to surgery games, with the use of a tiny camera to view the part of the body and doing the treatment viewing the monitor.
